THE STORY

In early 2006 we were presented with a slight problem. Our drum sequencer that we've used on every single song we've ever written was completely full, so we couldn't program another song.

There were a few options. We could delete a few of the songs that we don't play anymore and free up some space for new songs. We could purchase another of the same drum machine and continue with the sound we've molded over the past 2 years. Or we could purchase a completely different type of drum machine and start all over again.

We didn't end up choosing any of those options.

We packed the drum machine away and started to write new songs without it. Over time, electric guitars became acoustic and the synths became organs. All of the electronic sound effects were gone. The result was a much more natural sound, a major contrast to our usual setup.

Since it's a little different than the style we've all gotten used to, we decided to release the songs for free. But once you listen you'll see that it's very much the same. We also reworked 2 older songs to fit into our new format and they've never sounded better.

As for the drum machine situation... we'll see what happens next.

THE LYRICS

Shake Down
If I can stand 48 more seconds of this, I'll make it out alive. Dark water only stains, it won't help to clean our souls. Tainted by the glow of city nights with no control. You can't seal the world with a kiss, if it steals your innocence. It's about time we forego our cleanliness. If I can stand 48 more seconds of this, I'll make it out alive. Fight fire with more flames, it hurts but not for long. Followed by a string of more ideas that are proven wrong. You can't carry the world on your back, while stepping over the cracks. It's about time we plan for the next attack.

Passionate Power
A chance to start over doesn't come often. A chance to start from scratch, to take it all back. So much would be so different this time around. If we put you in a position of power would you do what's right? Would you fight the fight? I guess I have only one condition. When they wake up, I don't want to be remembered. We'll settle for better this time around. I've learned from my mistakes, and yours and theirs. So much would be so different this time around. If we put you in a position of power would you do what's right? Would you fight the fight? I guess I have only one condition. When they wake up, I don't want to be remembered.

The Great Divide
Open my eyes, open them so wide I can see the great divide. And then I took a deep breath and let it all sink in. Then another time I can take my time and say my last goodbye. And then I take a deep breath and let it all sink in. Where can we go? It's 2 AM. The night will fall. It's bitter cold. I close my eyes. The night will fall. Turn out the lights, say your goodnights, tomorrow is another day.

To The Ages
These lines were heard over and over, done many times before. This night they rang like a bell, like a ring. So true. La, la, la, la. I know enough to turn you inside out. These lines were heard over and over, never to be spoken again. I know enough to turn you inside out.

The Fall Of 1922
To say the name of the dead. I am still watching you. Invade your majesty. No regrets or apprehension. Invade your privacy. I don't expect your attention. La, la, la, la, la.  Invade your majesty. No regrets or apprehension. Invade your privacy. I don't expect your attention. With a swift visit of the wings of death, the lights went out in Cairo.

Return To '22

Fresh air filled the distant lungs of a king. A sheath of young and scarred nothing. And what was done has to be forgotten. And what we know can be changed. All the glory is cursed like the sun on the poor. What was to be taken isn't yours anymore. Cut and torn, so long as you could. A skull of holes hides no mystery no more. What becomes you is well understood. The final scenes are unknown. And what was done has to be forgotten. And what we know can be changed. All the glory is cursed like the sun on the poor. What was to be taken isn't yours anymore.

Honor A Six
We have no downlink. Start lighting the candles. And there's no explaining the funny mistakes we make. And I can't help the children, they've already seen it. The crisis in our hands, explosions in our homes. Return all the molecules back to where they're needed. Recover our confidence, put the past behind us. And I can't help the children, they've already seen it. The crisis in our hands, explosions in our homes. An empty sky, beautiful lights. It's time to lie, so just hang on tight. We have no downlink. Start lighting the candles.

This Is Not A Song
This is not a revolt, it's a revolution. We were hungry. We were poor. We were sick. We were dying.
