Gnaw's Forces

It only takes one match to light the powderkeg. A British attack has decimated a squadron of American ships, causing Commodore Gnaw to escalate the US presence. The American Forces under Gnaw aggressively patrol the entire Gulf and many pirate crews have gone to ground rather than contend with them.

Yet something promising lies on the horizon. Your scouts report that a single US ship survived the attack and is carrying its valuable cargo of munitions south along the coast. You immediately send your crew after it, before it can get away. Only afterwards do you hear that an unidentified pirate ship is also closing in on your target…

Bad News

Your captain returns with the captured vessel in tow, but bearing bad news: the unidentified pirate ship belonged to one of the Lafayettes’ trusted lieutenants. Your crew fired warning shots to turn the lieutenant away, though it’s only a matter of time before the Lafayettes get the report. And they won’t be happy.

  • New Building

    Your STRONGHOLD is growing, and has a new tavern. Check how many defeats you have recorded from Scenarios 4-5, then refer to the following table to determine which sticker you gain. Place that sticker on the F slot of your STRONGHOLD.

Ability Reference

Note: This ability reference list contains spoilers. Use sparingly as needed.

Character Abilities
Character Ability

Spend 1 "Any Resource" to take any amount of stored Resource cards from your Empire.

Restriction: Only the player who uses this ability may take the cards.

Character Ability

Spend 1 Coin to give the active player +2 to a skill check. You may use this after either player performs a skill check.

Restriction: Max 1 per turn.

Character Ability

Spend 1 Sword to give the active player +2 to a skill check. You may use this after either player performs a skill check.

Restriction: Max 1 per turn.

Character Ability

For each "Any Resource" spent the active player gains +1 to a single Skill Check. You may use this after either player performs a skill check.

Restriction: Max 2 per turn.

Character Ability

Each Coin you have may be spent as a Gem.

Restriction: May only be used during Rounds 1-2. Only the character with this ability may use the ability’s effect.

At any point during either player’s turn, you may spend 2 "Any Resource" to switch who the active player is. The new active player completes the current turn where the previous player left off, and then the next player starts their turn as normal. (If playing solo, switch which character is currently active that turn.)

Spend 1 "Any Resource" to flip the Empire Card over from the STRONGHOLD to the FLEET side.

Character Ability

Take any amount of stored Resource cards from your Empire for no cost.

For each Cannon spent the active player gains +2 to a single Skill Check. You may use this after either player performs a skill check

Spend 1 Gem to flip the Empire Card over from the STRONGHOLD to the FLEET side.

Character Ability

Spend 1 Cannon to ignore the current Crisis Effect. This may be used before any triggered Crisis is applied. Note that the effect will trigger again next turn if the active scene doesn’t change.
